satan-your-lord-and-savior-deac:
This is hilarious on its own, but can we talk about how sweet and social the grey cat was being? That right there was empathy, folks. Cats aren’t assholes. They just have very different social norms than humans and dogs do.
he was like
let me- let me help you
He wasn’t just being empathetic, he was actively trying to help the other. Cats can communicate in ways we can’t hear with our crappy hearing and that white cat was clearly becoming distressed the longer it was stuck in the litter tray. Now, obviously, it wasn’t in danger and if it’d started panicking too much, the owner would have intervened, but cats need to also be able to troubleshoot their own problems. Especially a litter tray flap. The grey cat is actively trying to help the white cat get out because it recognises the white cat is stuck and needs help.
Cats are assholes but they’re empathetic assholes. Why do you think they lie on our knitting projects so much or our laptops when we’re getting stressed with a project? They’re trying to help the only way they know how. By comforting us (also knitting and laptops are warm so it’s a win-win for the cat).
